2026 Certificate Program: An 18-Hour Clinical Formation Experience

The Summer Certificate Program in Spiritually-Informed Psychotherapy (SCP) is PSI’s signature training for clinicians seeking to integrate spirituality into psychotherapy with clarity, rigor, and ethical discernment.

Grounded in contemporary clinical research, depth psychology, relational theory, and culturally responsive practice, this six-week program offers a structured, developmental pathway for working competently with spiritual and existential themes in therapy.

Rather than offering spirituality as an add-on or specialty niche, the SCP equips clinicians to understand spirituality as an integral dimension of human experience — shaping meaning-making, attachment, trauma, identity, and collective life.

The curriculum moves developmentally across six weeks:

  • The Clinical Foundations of SIP — definition, ethics, and scope
  • Intrapsychic & Embodied Spirituality — symbol, neurobiology, contemplative practice
  • Assessment & Meaning-Making — spiritual history, formulation, existential crisis
  • Relational & Familial Spirituality — attachment, systems, gender, intimacy
  • Collective & Cultural Spirituality — justice, trauma, epistemic humility
  • Clinical Integration & Discernment — case consultation and professional identity

The SCP is equally valuable for:

  • Clinicians new to spiritually-informed psychotherapy
  • Experienced practitioners seeking integration and refinement
  • Alumni returning for deeper case-based learning

While the curriculum spine remains stable, the experience is never static.

PSI’s faculty bring creativity, intellectual rigor, lived clinical experience, and evolving research to each module. Case material, contemporary themes (e.g., suicidality and loss of meaning, psychedelic integration, moral distress, AI and identity), and experiential elements continue to evolve, ensuring that returning participants encounter new insights and deeper synthesis.

PSI is recognized by the NYS Ed. Dept. Office of Professions: Provider #SW-0252 /#MFT-0044/#MHC-0081/#CAT-0076
