Gary Hellman, MDiv, PsyD, PhD

Gary Hellman is a New York State licensed psychoanalyst and mental health practitioner committed to your individual care, psychological growth, and wholeness. As a long-time practitioner, he is guided by genuine curiosity, care, and deeply empathic understanding. He truly enjoys working with clients who have a wide range of identities and backgrounds.

Gary’s training is rooted in spiritually informed approaches to psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. He is grounded in extensive study of psychology, Carl Jung’s perspective, behavioral sciences, philosophy, and theology, and enriched by a deep appreciation of diverse lived experiences.  

Gary is certified by the Blanton-Peale Institute and Counseling Center in New York City in individual psychotherapy, marriage and family therapy, and group psychotherapy. He has served as Executive Director of PSI, successfully shepherding the organization through the challenging aftermath of 9/11.  Earlier in his career, he founded the Grace Counseling Center in Madison, NJ, and served in the Peace Corps in India.
