Matt Ross, Clinical Intern

Matt believes therapy begins with curiosity: creating a space where people can slow down, feel deeply heard, and explore their experience without immediately needing to change or fix it. He sees therapy as a collaborative process that can deepen understanding of the self, illuminate the patterns shaping one’s life, and foster greater awareness and self-compassion.

A longtime practitioner of Buddhist meditation and psychology, Matt is interested in how mindfulness and contemplative practice can inform psychotherapy. His approach is relational and draws from psychodynamic thinking, mindfulness, and an appreciation for the connection between mind and body. He is especially interested in working with people navigating relationships, career and life transitions, and questions of meaning and purpose.

Matt is pursuing his Master’s of Social Work degree at New York University following a 20+ year career in real estate investment and development. His background as an entrepreneur, investor, and business owner gives him firsthand insight into the pressures and questions of identity that accompany demanding careers.

His clinical experience includes individual and group work with Bronx youth, and he is a longtime volunteer and Board member with South Bronx United. He completed his undergraduate studies at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania..

Matt sees clients virtually and in person at the 50 Fulton Street location in Manhattan. He can be reached at mross@psinyc.org.
