Virtual MBSR course offering 26 Continuing Education Credits (CECs) to New York State certified LMSWs, LCSWs, LMFTs, LMHCs and LCATs.
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an experiential, evidence-based program designed to give participants systematic training in a variety of mindfulness practices along with education about physical and psychological stress, perception, and resilience. MBSR teaches participants to relate to stress and suffering with more ease while cultivating flexibility of mind and emotional intelligence. MBSR, developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979 at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, is the gold standard in mindfulness training.
This MBSR cycle is offered exclusively to those working in the mental health field, including clinicians, clergy, chaplains, and others, whether working in institutional settings, nonprofit organizations, or private practice. This is an opportunity to experience a rigorous exploration of practicing mindfulness in your own life and will provide the foundation for brining mindful awareness to your work with clients via your own personal practice.
For those interested in teaching MBSR completing this course meets one of the prerequisites to enter the teacher training pathway.
