PSI is pleased to announce that Rebeca Brau Martinez, MS, MFT LP, has joined our team of staff therapists and is welcoming clients.
From Rebeca:
As a Mexican, immigrant, and a woman, I understand how challenging it can be to live authentically in a world filled with conflicting messages about who we are and where we belong. Disconnection, hopelessness, and oppression are binding spells cast by a system that benefits when we doubt or diminish ourselves. But I believe it is our birthright to live fully, rooted in our own truths and heritage. The more we reclaim this authenticity, the more resilient and connected we feel, ready to face life’s challenges on our own terms. Therapy can be the space where you return home – to yourself.
Coming home to ourselves is feeling welcomed, seen, loved. I approach therapy through the Hispanic tradition of charla or plática—an open-hearted, conversational style that allows space for desahogo (unburdening) and growth. Together, we can address “sustos” (soul loss), reconnect with your true self, and rewrite your stories from a space of liberation.
To me, therapy is a sacred space of connection. My role as a therapist includes challenging oppressive societal structures that stigmatize difference, while fostering resilience, self-acceptance, and connection. My therapeutic approach is socioculturally sensitive, collaborative, relational, and spiritual—infused with the ancestral wisdom of my Mexican heritage and grounded in non-denominational spirituality.
