What is Spiritually-Informed Care?

Addressing the Intangible with Intention.

Psychotherapy is one of the earliest forms of practiced medicine, employed to ease the burden of life’s difficulties. Its definition tells the story of its task:

Psyche: Soul
Therapeia: Healing

We at PSI have always believed what current studies in neuroscience are discovering: that our natural inclination towards meaning making, originally seen in forms of ritual, and later through more formal expressions of spirituality and religion, is a crucial part of healing and creating a sense of wellbeing.

In addition to specific mental health conditions, there are many aspects of society that can disrupt our sense of who we are and contribute to personal conflict and strife. PSI clinicians are prepared to explore and support every facet of what we need to feel whole – in mind, body, and spirit.

PSI clinicians are at the forefront of their treatment modalities and strive to create a compassionate space for healing. We sincerely believe that care and acceptance transform us and the world we live in.

*PSI recognizes that people may be suffering because of negative encounters or exploitation by religious institutions or those espousing spiritual authority. Many of our clinicians are uniquely qualified to help those in crisis due to these circumstances. Please reach out to us here, and one of our staff will contact you with practitioner options.
