Wayne R. Cato, MBA, LCSW
Wayne R. Cato, LCSW, is a psychotherapist on staff at the Trinity Counseling Center of the Psychotherapy and Spirituality Institute. Wayne earned his Masters of Social Work from The School of Social Work at Hunter College of The City University of New York and also holds a Masters in Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. Prior to joining PSI, Wayne worked at the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health for four years. His therapeutic commitment is to help all of his clients grow steadily toward greater wellness.
Wayne’s approach is to work collaboratively with his clients, naming and addressing those obstacles that prevent them from living a healthier and more productive life. Clients who work with Wayne become better able to identify their desired goals, as well as any challenges immediately facing them, and to map out the most effective strategies to attain those goals. Wayne further places a special emphasis on active listening, trust-building, and spiritual development. His practice is informed by in-depth study of western and eastern psychology and spiritual traditions.
Wayne offers help and supportive services for people who are grappling with a broad range of concerns, including:
- Depression and Anxiety
- Aging, Bereavement, and Caregiver Support
- Life Transitions
- Career Concerns
- Educational Issues
- Sexual Compulsivity
- Addictive Behaviors
- LGBTQ Concerns
- Race and Ethnicity Issues
- Conflict Mediation
- Psychospiritual Development
Wayne sees adults in individual therapy, couples counseling, and support groups, and he is available to work with people either on a long-term or short-term basis. He also provides all prospective clients with a free telephone consultation before the start of treatment.
