Welcoming Mary Rogers Nummelin, LMSW, to the PSI Team

The Psychotherapy & Spirituality Institute is thrilled to welcome Mary Rogers Nummelin, LMSW, to our interdisciplinary team of licensed clinicians. She is a breath of fresh air to our staff with her kind heart and gentle spirit, as well as a compassionate practitioner of spiritually informed psychotherapy.

With more than 25 years’ experience as a leadership, career, and executive coach, as well as a learning and development practitioner, Mary trusts the human spirit’s power to heal—to transcend suffering by discovering its meaning and purpose in our lives. Her personal mindfulness practice is grounded in the Plum Village tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh, who affirms, “The way out is in,” by inviting us to accept ourselves, as is, in the present moment.

Mary earned her Master of Social Work and a B.A. and M.A. in history from Stony Brook University. Prior to becoming a therapist, she was a human resources and organizational development leader for corporations and nonprofits, where she supported individuals, teams and organizations in discovering how vocation, or “what we do,” intersects with “who we are.”  Mary’s work, past and present, affirms her commitment to hold space for clients to realize and express their authentic selves. She embraces all spiritual perspectives and religious traditions in her practice.

Beginning immediately, Mary is available for virtual sessions with individuals, couples and families. While Mary does not accept in-network insurance, she works on a sliding scale and can provide documentation for out-of-network reimbursement.

Mary can be reached directly at mrogersnummelin@psinyc.org.
