Father Michael LapsleyDear Friends,
Father Michael will conduct the only Healing of Memories workshop and Facilitator’s Training workshop in the NY area this year In on May 3-6 at Maryknoll, and May 10-11 at PSI. He is a world renowned leader in the area of reconciliation who has developed a unique methodology.

The Institute for the Healing of Memories
was founded in 1998 by Fr. Michael Lapsley, who lost both hands and an eye in a letter bomb attack in Zimbabwe in 1990. Accompanied by prayers, love and support from around the world, Fr. Lapsley began a journey from victim to survivor to victor. The Institute for the Healing of Memories seeks to accompany others in their journeys to healing and wholeness through Healing of Memories workshops.

“Today, my own work lies in the field of healing of memories – creating safe and sacred spaces where people can begin the journey of acknowledging and letting go of that which is destructive inside them and taking from the past that which is lifegiving”. Fr. Michael Lapsley

Everyone has a story to tell. Workshops are a response to the emotional, psychological, and spiritual wounds inflicted by war, human rights abuses, and other traumatic circumstances and events in our families, communities and nations. They provide a safe space where individuals can tell their stories in an atmosphere of confidentiality and respect. Every story needs a listener. When our stories are shared, acknowledged, and reverenced, participants can take one step toward healing and wholeness.

Guided by trained facilitators, participants are encouraged to confront issues on an emotional and spiritual, rather than intellectual level. Workshops are experiential in nature and everyone, including facilitators, participates. Workshops are open to victims of human rights abuses, war and torture, prisoners, refugees, and those who have suffered physical, sexual or emotional abuse.

The cost of the weekend workshop is $350. Go to or contact Phyllis Rodriguez for details: If you need a lower fee, ask for our sliding scale.

The prerequisite for the facilitator’s training is completion of a weekend workshop. The cost is $35. Contact Lynn Anderson for details:
